Manhattan Software Review Manhattan Associates Supply Chain Management Software Review Manhattan Associates SCOPE Supply Chain Software Suite SCOPE (Supply Chain Optimization, Planning through Execution) is Manhattan Associates suite of supply chain management software geared towards their larger, more sophisticated customers. The SCOPE software portfolio strength includes supply chain execution with strong offerings in Warehouse Management Systems and Transportation Management systems, along with supporting add-on modules. SCOPE also has a niche presence with limited supply chain planning, inventory and order management solutions. The Manhattan Associates SCOPE portfolio of applications is built on a software architecture named Supply Chain Process Platform (SCPP), and designed to make SCOPE greater than the sum of its parts—with shared data, common workflow and business rule engines, and common visibility solutions to information and events.
SCOPE also provides an integration path for exchanging information and events with the supply chain ecosystem (such as trading partners, 3PLs and other providers). Supply Chain Intelligence (SCI) provides WMoS and TLM with a broad array of analytical KPIs, dashboards, scorecards, event/alert management, ad hoc querying and trading partner access. Warehouse Management System Manhattan's strongest software product is their Warehouse Management Open Systems (WMoS), and with version 2010, WMoS became a member of their SCOPE suite. This means that, with relatively modest implementation effort, WMoS now knows how to play well with the other SCOPE solutions. For example, most WMoS implementations can be seamlessly integrated with Transportation Lifecycle Management (TLM) features such as Yard Management, Appointment Scheduling, Routing, Load Optimization and Reverse Logistics. WMoS is frequently selected for large, complex automated warehouse implementations, in part because of its robust capabilities to support real time seamless interfaces to all types of material handling equipment (MHE). WMoS excels at working with MHE, sending containers (pallets or cases) from an inbound trailer to a reserve stock location or across the warehouse to an outbound trailer waiting to transport the containers to their next destination.
WMoS also works well with sort directors and pick to light systems. WMoS is equally apt at manual warehouse operation with the flexibility to systematically make decisions for the warehouse associates or record activities as the associates execute tasks. WMoS has virtually all the standard WMS features, including dock door scheduling, inbound and outbound ASNs, inventory management, picking, kitting, packing, manifesting and replenishments; along with ancillary applications such as labor management, yard management, appointment scheduling and slotting. The WMoS product not only supports the traditional warehouse and distribution needs; but, it is also being used as the fulfillment backbone when retailers like Kohl's, Macy's, and QVC are building high volume, direct to consumer channels using the internet, mobile apps, kiosks and infomercials. Transportation Lifecycle Management Manhattan's Transportation Lifecycle Management (TLM) is gaining momentum in the TMS market; however, TLM does not yet have the same status as WMoS does in the WMS market.

TLM and WMoS share the cutting edge benefits of SCOPE's Supply Chain Process Platform (SCPP) architecture. TLM features include procurement, planning and execution, trading partner gateway, fleet management, invoice audit, claims, payments, yard management and appointment scheduling.
As the market shifts to software as a service (SaaS) deployments for TMS solutions, Manhattan is keeping pace with market demand by supporting both on premises and SaaS deployment options. TLM capabilities are not yet on par with market leaders Oracle and i2 (acquired by JDA). Manhattan's customer base is also much smaller; although sales started to increase in 2009. One area TLM is challenging Oracle and i2 is in global capabilities (for example, multiple languages, currencies, geographic data and rules) and in depth of functionality for complex, multileg, multimodal, international logistics. International sales have been primarily in Asia-Pacific, with few sales in Europe. All in all, TLM is building momentum and should soon be on par with the market leaders.
